Maude Chandler Peden

Maude Chandler Peden, 95, of Gray Court, SC passed away on Friday, March 1, 2013. She was the daughter of the late James Robert Chandler and Fettie Maria Woodson Chandler.

She retired after 36 years as a public school teacher. She was the oldest member of Dials United Methodist Church of Gray Court. She was a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa International Honorary Society for Teachers and The Christian Women’s Club.

She is survived by her husband, David Martin Peden Sr; one daughter, Margaret Ann Swygert and her husband David of Blythewood; three grandchildren, Wayne Swygert (Andrea) of Columbia, Norman Swygert of Portland, OR, Mark Swygert (Valerie) of Lexington; two great-grandchildren, Julia Swygert and Ronan Swygert of Columbia; sisters, Helen Chandler of Greenville and Elizabeth Campbell of Williamston; a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Peden was preceded in death by a son, David Martin Jr; a sister, Bertha Burdett; brothers, James Robert Chandler, Grady Chandler, Wade Chandler and Fred Chandler.

Visitation will be held 10:30 AM on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Dials United Methodist Church, Gray Court, SC. The funeral service will follow the visitation. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
