Marilyn Forshee
Marilyn Jean Forshee, 76, of Fountain Inn (formally of Ypsilanti, MI), passed away to be with her Lord Sunday, January 15, 2023 at home. She was born on December 2, 1946 in Caro, MI, the daughter of Don and Vera (Convis) Whittenburg.
On April 15, 1967, Marilyn Whittenburg married Dwight Forshee. She is survived by her son, Terry (Pauline) Forshee and daughter, Jacqueline (Eric) DeVriendt; grandchildren, Matthew, Jake, Zu, Rachel, Kaitlyn and Joshua; great-grandchildren Wyatt and Wesley; brother Richard Whittenburg, as well as other extended family.
Marilyn lived in downtown Caro on Main Street, near the fairgrounds; her aunt and uncle ran the horse track. Marilyn was active in church at Caro First Baptist. She met Dwight on the bus on their way to church camp. Eventually, she and Dwight would go on to lead young adult groups. In 1973, her husband followed God’s call into ministry.
In 1981, her husband became pastor of Bethany Bible Church and the tribe moved to Ypsilanti, MI. Marilyn obtained a degree from Cleary College and became a project manager at Warner Lambert/Parke Davis. Later, Marilyn became a project manager at Ford Motor Company working on the SVT Raptor and Mustang – she even drove the Mustang home one night! After she retired, she attended Trinity Baptist Church where she sang in choir and in trios, led a Sunday School class, worked on the mission board, and volunteered for VBS.
After Dwight’s passing, she moved to South Carolina for warmer weather with Jackie just down the road. Marilyn was a caring mom and loving wife who loved playing games, working puzzles and making crafts, and she loved the Lord. She encouraged all her grandchildren to love the Lord, to stay involved in church, and they continue to express their appreciation for her guidance.
The funeral service will be 11 am Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Stark Funeral Professionals with Pastor Scott Estell officiating (101 S. Washington Street, Ypsilanti). She will be buried at Brookside Cemetery in Fairgrove, MI.
