Joyce Dickert Messier
Joyce D. Messier, 88, of Greenville, widow of Darwin Allen Messier, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, October 16, 2020.
Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Clarence & Bessie Duncan. Mrs. Messier was a long-time member of Poe Mill Baptist Church and a proud member of that community. She worked as a caregiver to many children in the Mauldin community and as a high-school cafeteria assistant at Mauldin High School. She was a devoted wife for over 54 years while their family moved around the world while Mr. Messier served our country in U.S. Air Force.
Mrs. Messier is survived by her sons, Ronald E. Dickert and his wife, Sherry, of Greenville, and Allen Messier and his wife, Beverly, of Mauldin; her daughter, Diane Olson and her husband, Eric, of Fountain Inn; grandchildren, Sloan Messier, Kylie Messier, Chip Dickert (Amy), and Jason Dickert (Amy); step-grandchildren, Crystal Harper, Justin Mosteller (Melissa), and Rachel Robinson (Chris); and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters and their husbands, Dorothy Girardo (Joe), and Vera Bright (Homer).
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home in Simpsonville.
A Graveside Service will follow at 3:00 PM in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Greenville.
