Joretta L. Symons
Joretta L. Symons, 79, of Piqua, peacefully passed away at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 15, 2021, in her home. She was born February 26, 1942, in Piqua to the late Joseph and Jane (Cress) Hirschbolz. She married Ronald M. Symons in 1965; he preceded her in death July 31, 1994.
Survivors include two sons, Mike (Cindy) Symons of Piqua, Joe (Amy) Symons of Pensacola, Florida; three daughters, Robbin Symons of Port Orange, Florida, Kelly (Michael) Noctor of Simpsonville, South Carolina, Krista (Duane) Shugars of Pasadena, Maryland; twelve grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Frances Hirschbolz of Piqua. She was preceded in death by one grandson, and a sister.
Mrs. Symons was a 1960 graduate of Piqua Catholic High School and Miami Jacobs College in 1962. She worked as a Bookkeeper and Tax Preparer for Laird’s Tax Service in Piqua for many years. She was an active member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, the American Legion #184 of Piqua, and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles of Covington. She served as a Teacher’s Aide for Piqua City Schools, a Camp Fire Girls Leader, and was active in the PTA. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and traveling and will be remembered for her kindness and unconditional love for all. She will be deeply missed by her loving family and many friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 23, 2021, at St. Boniface Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Daniel P. Hunt as the Celebrant. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home.
