Henry Edward Tatum, Jr
Henry Edward Tatum, Jr., 89, of 2706 E. Georgia Rd., passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Langston House in Clinton, SC. He is the son of the late Henry Edward Tatum, Sr. and Ruby Augusta Webster Tatum.
He was a 1st Lieutenent in the United States Army Air Corp serving as a Fighter Pilot P47 Thunderbolts in WWII. He served in the North African Campaign and the Italian Campaign having completed 101 missions to ensure our Freedoms. He was a retired Electrical Engineer with IBM and a long time member of Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Simpsonville, SC having served as a Lay Reader and in many other ministries of the Church. He was the devoted husband to his late wife of 60 years Mamie Tatum.
He is survived by two sons Ed Tatum; Karl Tatum and wife Nancy; daughter Jan Karen Bender; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Mamie Martin Tatum; a son Jeffery Tatum; and one great-granddaughter Rhondai Cox.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Simpsonville. Burial will follow at Graceland East Memorial Park, Simpsonville, SC.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Friday, December 6, 2013 at Cannon Funeral Home, Fountain Inn.
The family will be at the home.
