Douglas Sherwell Towers
Douglas Sherwell Towers, 88, widower of Vivian Egloff Towers, died on Monday, October 16, 2023. Born in Connecticut, he was a son of the late Reahome S. and Florence Strobel Towers.
Doug loved to build and fly model airplanes which grew from his passion for aeronautics. He had vast knowledge of airplanes. Doug was an avid amateur astronomer and member of the Westchester Amateur Astronomers Group. Another outdoor activity he enjoyed was target shooting. Doug was usually a quiet person, but as a history buff, he loved to watch and discuss World War II books and documentaries.
Doug is survived by his daughter Karen (Robert) McLaughlin of Simpsonville, SC (formerly of Yonkers); two grandchildren Logan and Kira; his brother, Donald Towers, of Mahopac, NY; and a nephew, John Towers also of Mahopac.
Visiting hours will be at Cannon-Byrd Funeral Home – Simpsonville, 313 North Main Street, Simpsonville on Saturday, October 21, 2023, from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm. Doug will be laid to rest with his wife, Vivian at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale, NY.

I was so sorry to hear of your dad’s death. He was such a nice man, and always interesting to talk to at parties. I know that you all will miss him greatly, but now he is up in the stars he used to gaze at. May peace be with you and your family.
