Cory S. Burns

Cory Scott Burns, 16, of Greenville, died of injuries sustained in an automobile accident Thursday, June 30, 2011.

Born in Charleston, SC, Cory spent his childhood in Beaufort and moved to Greenville with his family two years ago. He was a student at Hillcrest High School in Simpsonville. Cory was a gifted artist. His great passion was skateboarding and he was a member of skate team at SPOG Skate Park in Mauldin.

He is survived by his loving family; mother, Gwendolyn M. Burns, of the home; father, M. Scott Burns of Beaufort; his brothers, Jacob and Nicholas Burns; maternal grandparents, Janice Holiday Porter, and Lewis (Becky) Mayfield; paternal grandparents, Jimmy and Krista Burns; Maternal great-grandmother, Clemis Jones Mayfield; Paternal great-grandmother, Marie Hicks Dockham; and aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Services will be 3pm Sunday, July 3, 2011 at Cannon Funerals and Cremations with Pastor Cameron Byrd officiating.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00pm until service time at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Cannon Memorial Park
