Charles Edward “Ed” King
Ed King, 81 faithful husband of Betty Bramlett King for 56 years was called home to be with his Lord in the first hour of Monday January 20 after a peaceful stay at McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville. He was the only son of Lawrence Edward and Ora Dodson King.
Ed was a graduate of Simpsonville High School and served his Country in the Navy. Ed was a graduate of Clemson College where he earned a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was employed with J. E. Sirrine and later with O’Neal Inc. After a brief attempt at retirement he worked with Diversified Technology Inc. He was a dedicated volunteer working with Habitat for Humanity for over 20 years and serving others at every opportunity.
Ed was a faithful member of Augusta Heights Baptist Church for 52 years. He served as a Deacon, Personnel Committee Chairman and dedicated volunteer. He was also a member of the Simpsonville Promise Keepers.
He is survived by his son Tony King, his wife Terri and their children Tyler and Tiffany, a sister Marion K. Bramlett, sister in law Doris G. Bramlett, Nephews; Gerald Jones, Charles Jones and his wife Angie, Don Kinnett and his wife Rebecca and Nieces; Lynn Edwards, Robin Arnold and her husband Alan, Kathy Langley and her husband Barry, Debbie Gresham and her husband Tim, Vicki Rutland and her husband Jim.
He was predeceased by his son Edward Lee “Eddie” King and sister Wilma K. Jones.
Visitation will be held at Augusta Heights Baptist Church on Friday January 24, from 1:30 to 2:45 in the parlor. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 in the sanctuary followed by a celebration of his life in the fellowship hall. Please omit flowers.
