Charles (Charlie) Henry Lewis, Jr.

Charles (Charlie) Henry Lewis, Jr., 69, moved to his heavenly home on August 14th, 2024.  He was born February 21, 1955, in Tuomey Hospital in Sumter, SC to the late Charles Henry Lewis, Sr. and Mary McLeod Lewis.

Charlie was a proud and loving father of Charles Justin Lewis (Tara Lynn), grandfather of Maddi Lewis and Peyton Lewis, and brother of Connie Wells (Randy) of Blackville, SC, Paula Houston (Mike) of Belton, SC, Betty Drake (Ducky) of Simpsonville, SC, Michael Lewis (DaWanna) of Asheville, NC, and the late Cliff Lewis (Lois) of Pelzer, SC.

Charles was a hard-working and good man who built a successful business with the encouragement of family, but his proudest accomplishment in his life was his son, Charles Lewis.  He was a well-respected man by his family and friends, and served others with a big heart.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 18th starting at 2:30 pm at Cannon-Byrd Funeral Home, 313 N. Main St., Simpsonville. The Funeral Service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 4:00 pm.

I did my best to research Charlie when the USPS guy asked about his mail piling up. If he is indeed my neighbor, that would coincide with the lack of any activity at his home for several weeks now.
Although the Charlie I know largely kept to himself, his business was legendary. Anyone who came to do work at our house recognized Charlie.
And he always had a smile and a wave.
My condolences to all concerned. He is already missed.
    George and Karen
