Betty Hamby Barbary

Betty Hamby Barbary stepped into the arms of our Lord and Savior and was reunited with her late husband, Red Barbary (the love of her life) on November 25, 2016 at the age of 91. She was the daughter or Charles Smith and Mary Jane Hamby.

She was a lifetime resident of Simpsonville. Betty loved her church and was always selfless in anything that was asked of her. She never put herself before others; she had a kind and giving spirit. She was a loyal member of the church choir, her circle and Sunday School Class.

She is survived by her daughter, Jane Jones (Cecil); three grandchildren, Travis Barbary (Raquel), Elizabeth Nix (Marvin) and Christopher Butler (Mandy). She has two step grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and six step great grandchildren. She is survived by a brother, Dick Hamby (Peggy) and her sister, Mildred Hawthorne. She was predeceased by her son, Eddie Barbary and daughter in law, Charlene Barbary; a brother, Charles Hamby and Rob Hamby.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at 3:30 PM at the Simpsonville First Baptist Chapel officiated by Rev. Randy Harling with burial to follow in Cannon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM at the Simpsonville First Baptist Chapel prior to the service.

The family will be at her residence. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials be sent to the First Baptist Church Simpsonville Building Fund or Music Ministry.
