Robert W. Marshall
Robert W. “Bob” Marshall, 96, of Mauldin, husband of Isabelle June Kunselman Marshall, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, March 10, 2024 while at home surrounded by his family.
Born in Indiana, PA, Bob was the son of the late Joseph & Gaye Marshall. He served our country in the U.S. Navy, from 1945 through 1953. He worked as a combustion engineer for many years at the North American Manufacturing Company in Cleveland. He was a long-time member of the Methodist Church of Simpsonville.
In addition to his wife of 75 years, he is survived by their children, Bill Marshall (Susan), Tom Marshall (Chris), Rick Marshall (Janet), Janet Fuchs (Gordon), Janice Verk (Richard), Susan Kollar (Ray), and Tim Marshall (Melissa); and by fourteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Bob enjoyed family outings, camping, boating, hunting and the beach. His grandchildren will always remember ice cream runs in his pickup. He was a scout master for six years in Murrysville Pa. and as a member of the Lions Club in DuBois Pa, he won the Melvin Jones Fellowship for inventing a soccer style game for the blind. He was also a member of the Journey to the Manger team for the Methodist Church of Simpsonville and assisted with maintenance work around the church in his twenty years as a member.
A memorial service will be held at the Methodist Church of Simpsonville on March 17, 2024 at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends following the service. Mr. Marshall will be interred in Cool Spring PA at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to: The Methodist Church of Simpsonville, 215 S.E. Main St., Simpsonville, SC 29681, or to a charity or your choice.
Donna and I are saddened to hear about the passing of Bob. We certainly enjoyed his smile and laughter at church. It was Bob who stood with us when we joined the former Simpsonville United Methodist Church.
He will definitely be missed by many. Our prayers are with Isabel and the Family.
Sincerely,
John & Donna Hastings
Our love and prayers are with you and your family Isabelle. You and Bob always had a special place in our hearts!
Isabelle and family,
We will miss Bob’s beautiful smile and friendly handshake at Simpsonville Methodist Church. What a beautiful life he led!
Over the years attending our church I was aware of Mr. Marshall mainly due to the relationship I had with his son, Bill Marshall. Unfortunately, I did not take time to introduce myself to Mr. Marshall. In reading his obituary I realized he was a remarkable man. We think of the term “The Greatest Generation.” Mr. Marshall certainly fits into that category. God Bless this family.
