John Curtis Riddle
John Curtis Riddle, 78, of Williamston, husband of Patricia Hawkins Riddle, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024. Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Lonnie O. and Margaret Ruth Godfrey Riddle.
Curtis joined the Marine Corp in 1965 and served for several years as both active and reserve. Curtis loved his family and spending time outdoors. He was a classic country music fan and enjoyed fishing, camping, and racing. Curtis also cooked and was known for his homemade biscuits and salmon stew.
In addition to his wife, Curtis is survived by his daughter, Tammy Riddle; his son Lonnie Riddle; nine grandchildren, Justin (Kursti) Riddle, Ashley (Luis) Reyes, Destiny Painter, Zachary (Amada) Painter, Dallas Painter, Kayla Cooper, Kevin Cooper, Aalyssa Simons, and Bela Burgess; eleven great grandchildren, Ducky, Draven, Amari, Zymir, Charlotte Rose, Zoey, Merek, Colt, Landen, D.J., and Gabrella; a brother, Lonnie (Joyce) Riddle; sister-in-law, Barbara (Milton) Riddle Caston; and many nieces and nephews. A special recognition to nieces, Kim (Doug) Sprayberry, Cindy Seyller (Craig), and Shane (Michelle) Wright; and his best friends, who were more like brother and sister to him, Danny Wright and Lorraine Harrison.
In addition to his parents, Curtis was preceded in death by his daughter, Charlotte Riddle; brothers, Everett (Jeanette) Riddle, Sam (Joann) Riddle, and Lee Riddle; and sisters, Garrell (Harley) Sanders, Dorothy (Homer) Bryant, and Dolly (Mike) Wright.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, February 29, 2024, beginning at 1:00 pm at 2726 Fork Shoals Road, Piedmont 29673. A meal and time of fellowship will follow the service.
