Giordano “Doni” Ramadanovic
Giordano “Doni” Ramadanovic, age 76, peacefully went home to the Lord on February 4, 2024, in Greenville SC. Doni grew up in Bridgeport CT after his family immigrated from Europe. He graduated from Notre Dame HS in Fairfield CT. He proudly joined the US Navy in 1967 where he went on to serve in Vietnam aboard the USS Valley Forge and the USS Durham. He was awarded the Vietnam service metal, Vietnam campaign metal, and National Defense service metal. After four years of service, he was honorably discharged.
While still in the Navy, Doni met his future wife Kathy and shortly after settled in Stratford CT where they began their lives together. Doni worked with his brother Anthony for 25 years at Instrument Cases in Bridgeport CT as a sheet metal fabricator. Shortly after the company closed, Doni and Kathy moved to Simpsonville, SC where he resided until his passing. Doni and Kathy often traveled together visiting their children and grandchildren and close friends in other states. These trips together brought him much happiness which had to be paused when Kathy became sick with cancer. Doni’s focus shifted to full-time care of the woman he deeply loved. Her health and happiness became all he cared about, and he served her in love until her passing. Doni was a dedicated family man who was active in coaching his children’s basketball teams, videotaping soccer games from the back of his pick-up truck and attending fundraising events for school booster clubs. He developed lifelong friendships with basketball and soccer parents. Doni’s collection of videos from his children’s high school teams including highlight films were impressive. He was a talented handyman who could build or fix almost anything and had the most organized garage in the neighborhood.
Doni is survived by his son Jeff and wife Jennifer, his daughter Natalie and wife Patricia, his brother Anthony and wife Pia, his brother Emilio and wife Maureen, his grandchildren Joe, Annie, Sarah, Tommy, Mary, Gianna, Jayda, Jojo, great grandson MJ, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Dzemail and Antonia, his wife Kathy, and his grandsons Michael and David Ramadanovic.
There will be a memorial mass at 11:00 am on Monday February 19, 2024 at Our Lady of Peace located at 651 Stratford Road in Stratford CT. Following the mass family and friends are invited to spend some time together and share their memories of Doni. A burial ceremony will take place in South Carolina where Doni will be laid to rest with his wife Kathy.
