Richard Merritt Cooley Sr.

Richard M. Cooley Sr., 91, of Fountain Inn, widower of Betty Louise Goodman Cooley, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, November 18, 2023.

Born in Flint, MI, he was a son of the late Merritt & Mary Baker Cooley. Mr. Cooley was a long-time member of Bethany Baptist Church in Fountain Inn. He served our country in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Mr. Cooley is survived by his children, Mark (Bonnie) Cooley, Stephen (Goong) Cooley, and Becky (Kevin) Tesker; and nine grandchildren, Chris and Tim Locklear, Ben and Jeremiah Cooley, Jason and Adam Cooley, Jonathan, Daniel, and Anna Elliott.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Cooley was preceded in death by a son, Richard Cooley Jr.; one brother and one sister.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 10:00 am Bethany Baptist Church, Fountain Inn, officiated by Pastor Robert Cato. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends following the committal service.
