Jack Kenneth Wilson, II
Jack Kenneth Wilson II, lovingly known as Kenny, RAN into the arms of his savior on Friday, November 17th, 2023. This is why we rejoice-He ran for the first time which is something he was never able to do here on earth. We rejoice because he is now whole and healthy.
He was born to Jack Kenneth and Joy Dixon Wilson in Greenville on October 1st, 1982. Kenny was born with cerebral palsy. CP limited his body, but not his attitude nor his sweet spirit. He was joyful and thankful for all that he was able to do and enjoy.
He attended several schools who loved, nurtured, and taught him well including: The Meyer Center, Sara Collins, Spartanburg School for the Deaf and Blind, and he graduated from JL Mann in 2005. His brush with fame was being the poster child for the 1988 Easter Seals campaign. His blonde curls and big grin affected many.
He enjoyed participating with the SC Disabled Team and Special Olympics in the shot put and bocce ball events. He also played for several years with the Charleston Miracle League.
Being blind and disabled made Kenny an incredible auditory learner. He devoured books on tape and CD including the Bible, spent hours listening to the police scanner, loved documentaries particularly those on the Civil War and the founding of the United States of America. Two of his favorite shows were Full House and Rescue 911.
He had an infectious laugh and was known as the family memory keeper. He had incredible hearing and listened to everything and everyone. He remembered all the details and delighted in sharing his knowledge.
He is survived by in addition to his parents, his sister Holly Noel Wilson, two nieces Natalie and Keira Pinkney half brother Andrew Dennis Ritchy, a niece Marybeth Ritchy, and nephew Trenton Ritchy. His second family Uncle James and Aunt Nena Harper, cousins Valerie, Kevin, Harper, and Caroline Price, Joey, Kait, Kadence, TJ, and Addison Harper, and Jessica and Holden Jones. He is also survived by a large family full of many aunts, uncles, and cousins who lovingly visited him and cared for him throughout the years.
He was predeceased in death by his paternal grandparents Robert Leon Wilson and Carolyn Louise Shuford and maternal grandparents Ray and Georgia Dixon.
Kenny was also loved and cared for by The Charles Lee Center group home. We wish to thank them for their kindness, care, and love.
Kenny’s Home Going service will be Monday, November 20th at 3pm at Word of Life Church, 1023 West Georgia Road, Simpsonville, SC. Receiving friends will be immediately afterwords. Please wear bright colors. His favorite color was yellow and he loved his Clemson Tigers!

Kenny taught me many things during the years of me being his nurse. I will never forget in 2021 when I had to have surgery, he was 3 doors down from my room…so on my day of discharge I stopped in to see him with my hospital gown and IV pole in tow. We talked for a few minutes before a hospital nurse rushed in and demanded me to leave. I tried explaining to her that I was his nurse at the Charles Lea Center. Kenny was laughing so hard he was crying when the nurse informed us, “I thought you were a psychiatric patient that had escaped.” Let me tell you, Kenny never let me live that down. When I would come on to shift, he would say, “there’s that crazy lady.” But would whisper, “I’m just kidding, I love you.”
Kenny will be dearly missed by me and the individuals that he befriended throughout his journey! I thank God for the time I got to spend with him.

Kenny was a very special person when I was working with him at Charles Lea. We would always have a good laugh when I was around. Will never forget that smile he would always have or how he always greeted me when I would walk into the door. Prayers for his family during this hard time. He will truly be missed

Oh Kenny, as my heart breaks to hear this news because you were loved by ALL and will be missed by many. I know you’re Running around, healthy and Free and that makes my heart Happy! It was a pleasure to be one of many Nurses at CLC to care for you. You always made my shift fun and full of laughs. My favorite memories will be when you finished with your Audio books and you would discuss your favorite ones, when you would call the library for new books and talk with them like they were old friends. My favorite will be your love for oldies but goodies music we grew up on, and our shared love for the same tv shows ,we would have endless conversations about! You had a passion for ER tv show and true crimes shows , criminal minds and Any medical show! You had an old soul and wise beyond your years! I will always remember your compassion for others and your infectious smile! Our hearts and prayers go out to your family and friends during this difficult time. We love you Kenny! 🙏❤️

You were always so kind and thoughtful! I loved working with you at Charles Lea! I’ll never forget how you helped me learn the ropes with using lifts and shower chairs! You timed me to see if I could get faster! Which I never did, and we laughed about that often! I’ll always think of you when I see sticky notes. I know you’re dancing and singing in heaven.

To Kenny’s family I send so many prayers and thoughts. To Kenny you are you again! I took care of Kenny many times and I gave him so many baths. But I loved Kenny and will miss Kenny! You had such a sweet voice and was so sweet! RIP Kenny. Love you Jenny.

I was blessed to get to know Kenny. He had such a positive attitude and always wanted to “break down barriers” in communicating with others. He wanted to heal from his blindness and we processed how “Jesus” would be the first person he would see!
God bless him and his family. I am sorry for your loss. But I know he had faith and he is a bright light in Heaven!
