Thomas Jenkins Turner
Dr. Thomas J. Turner, 89, of Greenville, husband of Marie Wilson Turner for almost 70 years, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, February 5, 2016.
Born in Albany, GA, Dr. Turner was a son of the late Rev. James Baxter Turner and the late Ruth Quattlebaum Turner. Dr. Turner was a college professor and held Vice President positions over his career and time at Wake Forest University, Stetson University and Ouachita Baptist University.
In addition to his wife, Marie, Dr. Turner is survived by two sons, Rev. Tom Turner and his wife, Kris, of Anderson, and David Turner and his wife, Barbara, of Florida; two daughters, Jane Turner of Fort Mill, and Debbie Little and her husband, John, of Mauldin; six grandchildren and their spouses; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, James B. Turner, Jr. and Eugene H. Turner.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Mars Hill Baptist Church, Mars Hill, N.C. with Rev. Tommy Justus officiating.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
The family requests that memorials be made in lieu of flowers to: Mars Hill Baptist Church or to The American Alzheimer’s Association.
