Dr. Russell Gene Gaddy
Dr. Russell G. Gaddy, 75, of Simpsonville, beloved husband of Sarah Gaddy, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, May 27, 2022.
Born in Asheville, NC, he was a son of the late Weldon & Hazel Gaddy.
In addition to his wife, Sarah, Dr. Gaddy is survived by numerous children and grandchildren who have come to lovingly call him Papa.
Dr. Gaddy practiced medicine in South Carolina for nearly 50 years and for a short time at the VA Hospital in Coatesville, PA. For the last five years, Dr. Gaddy practiced with Center Well Senior Primary Care in Anderson, SC, which he often described as his favorite years of practicing medicine. He devoted his life to not only the physical well-being of his patients but also their spiritual needs. Dr. Gaddy had a heart for people. He was always putting others’ needs above his own. His greatest desire was to bring honor and glory to His Lord, in both his professional and personal life.
Even in Dr. Gaddy’s last moments on this earth, he quoted the Scripture verse, Jeremiah 32:17: “Ah, Lord God! It is You who have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and by Your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you.” His gaze and focus were always, ever, only Jesus.
Sarah and her children are especially grateful to the Popow family for embracing Russell as their own. A heartfelt thank you is also extended to Summit Church for their love and continued care for their family.
A Homegoing Service will be held on Friday, June 3, 2022 at 11:00 am at Summit Church – Simpsonville Campus.
The family will receive friends at the church starting at 10:00 am.
Interment will be private for the family in Cannon-Byrd Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to: Summit Church – Simpsonville Campus, 603 W. Curtis St., Simpsonville, SC 29681; Giving — Summit Church (summitupstate.org).
Dr. Gaddy was the best doctor in every sense possible. His compassion and devotion to his patients was never ending. He really did everything possible to give his patients the best care. We were privileged to know him and have him provide our health care.
Dr Gaddy was absolutely the most wonderful doctor I have ever had. . He was my Primary Physician in Mauldin for over 30 years and I so saddened to hear of his passing. He always took time to listen and never tried to rush through an examination always going the extra mile to determine your problem . HIs main attribute though was that he was a genuine man of faith. He loved God and put him first in his life.
Russel was such a godly husband and father. He was so dedicated to Sarah and the girls. I remember his loving courtship of Sarah.
He was a gentle and kind Christ-follower who gave his life in service to God.
We are praying for the Gaddy family,

Robert and I were patients of Dr. Gaddy for many years in Mauldin. He was a caring thorough doctor who wanted to take good care of us. We missed him so much when he moved to Pennsylvania. We were sorry to hear that he had passed away. Our prayers are with the entire family.
I had the awesome pleasure of working with Dr. Gaddy. He was not only a wonderful doctor, but also a sympathetic, loving person. He never tired of helping others and always had a smile and offered to help out. You will be missed Dr. Gaddy!
I will surely miss my doctor Russell Gaddy. He was my doctor when I lived in Mauldin and again at Centerwell. I find it hard to believer that he is now in his heavenly home. He was the most caring doctor who would talk to me about my health and how I can live better at 82 yrs. My heart goes out to his family and I pray our Lord will lift them up in Jesus name. You will be greatly missed Dr. Gaddy.
Prayers for his family, will be missed
My deepest sympathy for the Gaddy family. My Mom was one of his many patients. He was such a caring Doctor. Never in a hurry to get you in & out. Would always take the time to explain lab results, educate you every visit about the importance of a healthy diet, would tell you what Website to go to for information or book to purchase. His face would light up when he spoke about his family, during our conversation. We are going to miss you Dr Gaddy!!! Rest in peace 🕊️🕊️🕊️
Mrs. Sarah and family thank you all for sharing Dr. Gaddy with the CenterWell family. He was the heart of our office. I worked with Dr. Gaddy for almost 5 years. He was great man and doctor. I was always amazed at the care and love he had for his patients. He understood what was required for the unique patients that were under his care. He took his time to make sure his patients understood what was happening with their health. He had bond with his patients that they will cherish always. I will remember Dr. Gaddy has a Godly, hardworking man who loved his family. RG I will miss you forever!
I pray our heavenly father will comfort the Gaddy family in days to come! And he will! One of his children is now in his heavenly home. I had the honor of also working with Dr. Gaddy. He always listened and got all that was needed for the workday. I listened to patient compliments everyday of his care for them. He was a gentleman. I will deeply miss him.
I thank the Lord for Dr. Gaddy. Russell and Sarah were dear friends who also attended Dr. Frank Garlock’s Encouragers Sunday School Class at Calvary Baptist in Simpsonville. Dr. Gaddy was instrumental in overseeing the beginning stages of medical care of my late father who was transitioning to a nursing home. As I often told him during those challenging days, “God brought you to our family for such a time as this.” My love, prayers, and condolences are with Sarah and their family. ~ Dr. Susan Kindall

Sarah and family, may you rest in the comfort that your husband and father is with his Lord and Savior and loved ones who have gone before. Dr. Gaddy lived life well and brought many to know the Lord. He was a meek and quiet soul focused on serving others with compassion. I am grateful for his influence and care of our family. My heart and prayers are with you. “ to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord..,, for all who believe!
I am very sad to learn of the passing of Dr. Gaddy. He has been my primary care physician for the past several years and he was always very caring and thorough. He encouraged me to eat healthy and exercise. He was very kind and I felt comfortable with him knowing he was a Christian. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to his family.
I am so sorry to hear that Dr. Hardy has left his earthly home. I have no doubt that he is in his Heavenly home now. He was a wonderful doctor. Those of us who had the privilege to have him as our doctor will miss him sorely. My prayers are with his family.
Dr. Gaddy was the most intelligent, caring, compassionate doctor that I had over my 85 years. It was a shock to learn of his passing. I will truly miss him. He was the BEST.
Dr Russell Gaddy, you will be missed. You were so devoted to your profession as a Physician. You were so thorough and explained it all to me. … my lab work, my condition.. My sincere thanks to you. God love you and May you have everlasting peace and enjoy heavenly bliss.
Dr Gadfy was a great Doctor to my late Husband. I am sorry for your loss. May He Rest In Peace.
Here it is, September 1, 2022, and I am just learning of Dr Gaddy’s passing. I am so sorry. He was my primary care physician for 30+ years, even after I moved from Simpsonville to Easley. After he left the area I tried several other physicians but realized that Dr Russell Gaddy could not be replaced. I even had another Specialist Doctor tell me that Dr Gaddy saved my life with his diagnosis of my problem. He is and will always be missed by so many. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.
I am just finding the passing of Dr Gaddy. He was the doctor for my family in 1984-1988. We moved out of state and didn’t come back until 2004. We found he was practicing in Anderson but because of my husband’s cancer we were not able to visit with him. He was one of the best doctor’s I have ever had and even told me internist, Dr Steven Freeman, he was in the Anderson area. They were colleagues as interns. My heart is broken at just finding out of his passing. I was going to look him up for a visit. Another soldier has gone home! RIP- Phyllis Sustar
