James Carol Chandler
Carol Chandler, 87, of Simpsonville, widower of Polly Gault Chandler, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 10, 2015.
Born in Simpsonville, he was a son of the late Alton Chandler and the late Lucia Garrett Chandler.
Mr. Chandler was a long-time member of First Baptist Church Simpsonville where he served on the Building Committee and as a member of the team organizing mission trips to Virginia and West Virginia. He was in the residential and commercial construction business, and was a member of the S.C. Builders Association for many years. In addition to his career in the construction industry, he was recognized by the Jaycees as one of the “Outstanding Young Men in America”, and served on the Board of Directors for the S.C. Quarter Horse Association.
As a couple, Carol and Polly thoroughly enjoyed square dancing as members of the Pioneers Square Dancing Club.
Mr. Chandler is survived by his son, “Spunky” Chandler and his wife, Sharon, of Simpsonville; two grand-daughters, Shannon Brashier of Simpsonville, and Carlee Baynes and her husband, Preston, of Simpsonville; two great grand-daughters, Sydney and Reese Brashier; and two sisters, Sarah Sherbert of Simpsonville, and Margaret Rice of Mount Pleasant.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Chandler was preceded in death by one infant son, one infant daughter and one sister, Faye Hammond.
A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Heritage Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at 1:30 pm at First Baptist Church Simpsonville in the Worship Center with Rev. Steve Genoble and Rev. Chuck Ballew officiating.
Interment will follow at Cannon Memorial Park in Fountain Inn.
