Reuben Scott Nickson
Reuben Scott Nickson, 42, of Fountain Inn, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 26, 2021.
Scott was born in Spartanburg. He was the son of Don and Peggy Nickson who now reside in Fountain Inn.
He is survived by his two children, Reid Blackstock and Willow Blackstock, both of Brevard NC. His twin brother, William Gabriel Nickson, lives in Hendersonville NC.
After graduating from Browning Academy in Utah, he attended Johnson & Wales University in Charleston SC for two years.
A carpenter/electrician by trade, Scott was skilled in all aspects of home construction, which served him well in his employment at Burdette’s Hardware in Fountain Inn. Burdette’s customers grew to appreciate his friendly, easy going manner, in addition to his sound advice on construction matters.
Scott was a gifted pool player and forged a respected reputation in the Upstate. He enjoyed playing instrumental music, cooking, wood carving, travelling, gardening and working on his hundred-plus year old home that was built by his great grandfather. Frequently called on for advice on problems unique to older homes, he could always devise a solution and then recommend the tools and materials needed for the job.
His passing was due to complications of AW syndrome.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, February 1, 2021 at 3:00 PM in Cannon Memorial Park. Dr. John McKnight, pastor of the Reformation Bible Church in Darlington, Maryland, will conduct the committal service. Following the benediction, the family will greet friends at the grave site.
The family and funeral home requests that everyone in attendance wear a mask and practice social distancing.
In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make a contribution in Scott’s name to Miracle Hill Ministries, 490 South Pleasantburg Dr, Greenville, SC 29607.

I cried when I heard of Scottie’s passing. I will always cherish the fond memories I have from my childhood in Converse Heights playing with Scott and Will. Those were beautiful, care-free days with beloved friends running around the neighborhood. I’m sorry that life was not kinder to Scott. As a boy, he was a sweet and caring friend. I’m very sorry for your loss. My sincere condolences. Sending you hugs and love across the years and miles. – Laura (Klebs) Freeman

My heart is broken for you. I’m sure you are living in an unreal world this week. This was a lovely obituary and a great picture of Scott. I was exposed to Covid from Wade’s tutor last week. I am sheltering and don’t want to be around people if there is a possibility of spreading the virus. However, you know my heart and thoughts are with you. I’ll be praying for strength and comfort for you as you go through this week.
Much love and concern,
Judy Swaim

Dear Peggy and Don, Scott was very special to me and will always hold a special place in my heart. He taught me how to play pool, he would sing and play the guitar for me.
