Jane Leora Dobrowski
Jane Dobrowski, 69, of Greer, wife of Richard “Dick” E. Dobrowski, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, November 21, 2014.
Born in Milford, Massachusetts, she was a daughter of the late Minot Legate Powers II and the late Amy Hallsworth Powers.
Mrs. Dobrowski was of the Methodist faith and dearly loved her Church family. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Manchester, NH, for over 30 years. Moving to Greer in 2002, she and her husband, Dick, joined Covenant UMC, Greer, and have been active members there since joining.
Mrs. Dobrowski was a 1966 graduate of Plymouth State College in Plymouth, New Hampshire. Graduating with a degree in Elementary Education, she taught public school in Catonsville, MD and Fort Knox, KY. Her gift for teaching was tutoring special needs children which she did for many years. When her own children were young, their home became known as the “Cookie Factory” by all who came to visit to taste her warm Chocolate Chip Cookies. She was also an avid craftswoman, loved gardening, the beach, reading, walking, and practicing yoga. She was devoted to her Family and serving the Lord by sharing kindness to all who crossed her path. In her passing she leaves these seeds of kindness to grow through the Family and friends she touched along the way.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Sara da Costa and her husband, Vinicius, of Charlotte, NC; one son, Richard “Rick” Edwin Dobrowski Jr. of High Point, NC; grandson Brandon Cain; step-grandchildren Andre and Rodrigo da Costa; brothers Charles Powers and his wife, Betsy, of NH and Minot Legate Powers III and his wife, Patricia, also of NH; one sister, Susan Powers, and her husband, Ray, of CT.
A service celebrating Mrs. Dobrowski’s life will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at 11AM at Covenant United Methodist Church in Greer with Rev. Linda Guthrie officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Welcome Center of the Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Jane’s name to either the Greenville Humane Society 864-242-3626 x229, www.greenvillehumane.com or to The Myers Center for Special Children 1132 Rutherford Rd Greenville, SC 29609 c/o Jane Dobrowski.
