Robert Edwin “Eddie” Hipps
Eddie Hipps, 55, of Simpsonville, loving husband of Teresa, died after a long illness on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at home surrounded by his family.
Born in Greenville, he was the son of Daphine Hipps and the late James Hipps.
In addition to his wife, Teresa, Eddie is survived by two daughters, Brittany Hipps Dickerson and husband, John, of Simpsonville and Blythe Hipps Jones, of Simpsonville; three grandchildren, Austin Ritter, Addison Dickerson and Lex Clack; and one sister, Iva Boiter, also of Simpsonville.
Known and loved as “Boppa” by his grandchildren, Eddie was of the Presbyterian faith, graduated from Southside High School where he and Teresa first met and began dating, and worked in the telecommunications industry as a Technical Supervisor with Charter Communications.
Eddie deeply loved and enjoyed spending time with his family. He also loved music and played the bass guitar for many, many years with friends as a member of “Hightide” and currently played with “SeeAlice.”
In keeping with Eddie’s wish, the family requests casual services and attire as we gather to celebrate his life.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Heritage Funeral Home with Mike Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 – 1:45 p.m.
