Libby Cook Gray Alexander
Libby Alexander, 75, of Simpsonville, passed in to the arms of Jesus on Monday, March 31, 2014 while surrounded by her family.
Born in Owings, she was the daughter of the late John Broadus Cook, Jr. and Eunice Bragg Cook. Mrs. Alexander was devoted to her family and loved spending time with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved her Church family and was a long time member of Harmony Baptist Church in Fountain Inn. As a graduate of Gray Court Owings High School, she is remembered by those that knew her as a teenager as enjoying and being a tremendous basketball player. Over the course of her career she held several marketing positions including Marketing Manager for Texize Chemicals and International Marketing Director for Morton-Norwich Pharmaceuticals. She was co-owner of Creative Interiors.
She is survived by two daughters, Debbie Alphin and her husband Phil of Simpsonville, and Beth Gunter of Simpsonville; grandchildren, Jeremy Guthrie, Chris Broyles, Cory Broyles (Danielle Maynard), Taylor Gunter (Josh Wilson), Terri Graves; step-granddaughter, Janica (Dale) Logsdon; great-grandchildren, Gray Guthrie, Kyler and Flynn Broyles, Malaki and Layla Wilson, Courtney and Hayden Graves, Phillip and Emma Logsdon; one sister, Judy Brooks and her husband Dozier of Fountain Inn; and one nephew, John (Ashley) Brooks and their children, Paige and Parker.
She was preceded in death by her husband Daniel G. Gray, father of Debbie and Beth, and her second husband, Charles Alexander.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Heritage Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at 3:00 pm at Harmony Baptist Church with Reverends Glen Buie and Carroll Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery.
