Jimmie ‘Bo’ Lee McCollum Jr.
Bo McCollum, 46, of Belton passed away Sunday morning, February 9, 2014 surrounded by his family after a long battle with cancer. Bo was the son of the late Jimmie Lee McCollum, Sr. and Aloma Williams.
Bo is survived by his wife, Michelle and their three children, Cole, Mary Margaret and Walker; his in-laws, Mitchell and Margaret Cole, also of Belton, who loved him like their own son; a sister, Dowana Barton and her husband, John, of London, UK; a brother-in-law, Matthew Cole and his wife, Vanessa, of Charleston; two nieces, Raegan and Ryleigh Cole; and one nephew, Landon Cole.
In addition to his dad, Bo was preceded in death by his step-mother, Mary McCollum.
Bo was very active in his Church, First Baptist Church of Belton, where he served as a deacon and was a faithful member of the New Beginnings Sunday School Class. Bo worked in the insurance industry with Athene Insurance Company, formerly known as Liberty Life, and with Jardin Plastic Corporation. He was a graduate of Winthrop University where he was a proud member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity.
Services are planned for Saturday, February 15, 2014 and will be held at First Baptist Church, Belton. Visitation will be held in the Church Sanctuary starting at 1:00 p.m. until 2:15 p.m. The Memorial Service will follow and start at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Dale Lynch officiating.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson for their love and compassion and for the tremendous care they provided Bo and their entire family. They would also like to thank the Cancer Association of Anderson for their ongoing encouragement and support.
