Charles Heyward Arnold

Charles Heyward Arnold, 76, of Simpsonville, entered into eternal life on January 22, 2014 after a courageous 12 year battle of declining health. The Funeral Service will be on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service starting at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Born August 10, 1937, Heyward was the middle child of the late Jacob Haskell Arnold and Leona Katherine Harrison Arnold. He graduated from Parker High School, attended Clemson University, and served his country in the US Army from 1961 to 1964. Heyward worked at Merry Brick and in the building industry for years, retiring from Builders First Source in 1999.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; one daughter, Christi Capps; his son-in-law, Eddie Capps; one son, Scott Arnold; one sister, Margaret Ann Owings; one brother, Larry (Robin); step-daughter, Brandi Grim (Tom); step-son, Brett Phillips; two grandchildren, Ross Capps (Kristen Jackson), Ashton Little (Brett); two step-grandchildren, Madison Grim and Riley Phillips; many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members, whom he dearly loved.

Heyward was a kind, loving, gentleman of deep faith, a man of honor and integrity. He fought his health issues with courage, dignity and grace. II Timothy reads, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith”. This truly describes Charles Heyward Arnold. He was beloved by many and will be missed by all who were blessed to have entered into his life. We are all better by knowing and loving him. Donna’s last request to Heyward was to “meet me at the gate when my time comes so we can stroll over heaven together”.

At his request, anyone who grew up with or worked with Heyward is invited to sit as an Honorary Pallbearer. Flowers are being accepted and/or memorials may be made in honor of Heyward to the American Heart Association, the Diabetes Foundation or a charity of one’s choice.

The family is at the Simpsonville home.
