Dick was my friend and next door neighbor in Fountain Inn, and he brought a smile to my face each time I saw him as he walked his “pups” around his yard. He was also hilarious, and I enjoyed swapping tales from the past with him. I will truly miss this kind and sweet man; he indeed made this world a better place!

Time is tight and family and friend are even tighter. Dick was one of the first people I met in 1981 in the grocery industry. A true champion for showing young people the business and sharing his knowledge of the grocery industry. Gone to the ages and forever missed.

  • We only found out today about Dick’s passing. He and Tina were very active with Schnauzer Rescue of the Carolinas for a long time and their compassion for these needy canines went far above and beyond what most volunteers do. It is with a heavy heart that we learned of Dick’s passing. All the friends and volunteers of SRC offer our sincerest condolences to Tina and her family. There are very few truly caring people left on this Earth in today’s society, and the Pollards are among those who stand head and shoulders above others because of their character and compassion for those in need. Dick now has jewels in his crown, and will be sorely missed by all who knew him. We at SRC owe both Dick and Tina a huge debt of gratitude. Our thoughts and prayers follow our dear friends during this challenging time.

We extend our sincere condolences to Tina and the Pollard family. How appropriate that a celebration of life for Dick included ice cream! My memories of Dick go back to my days of working at Gemco in San Leandro and him calling on the store as a Bristol-Meyers rep in the early 70’s. He was an integral part of a Bay Area salesmen’s group that met for breakfast at the Holiday Inn in Emeryville for over 30 years years. During his many years with Dreyers Grand Ice Cream, he was responsible for ice cream donations to Relay for Life of Brentwood. Dick and Tina’s Discovery Bay parties were historic. We missed having them near us since their move to the East. We appreciate all the good times we spent with Dick & Tina and plan to get together with local friends of the Pollards for ice cream to celebrate his life.
