Mitzi Helton McCall
Mitzi Helton McCall, 63, of Greenville, loving wife of Mike McCall, Sr. earned her wings and joined her heavenly Father on June 16, 2019. Born in Shelby, NC, she was the daughter of the late Donald Erwin Helton and the late Ethel Viola Pearson Helton. She was a graduate of Clemson University and spent her career as a Certified Public Accountant for various firms and companies.
Mitzi’s true passion was dog rescue. It didn’t matter if it involved raising funds, transporting to adoptive homes, or fostering. She loved seeing to the medical needs of the dogs she fostered and cherished seeing them heal and develop into happy lovable adopted dogs.
In addition to her husband, Mitzi is survived by her niece, Carmen Chisholm; granddaughter, Kamren “Kami” Payne; stepson Mike McCall, Jr. and his wife, Liz,; and three grandsons, Hunter, Jacob, and Michael.
In addition to her parents, Mitzi was preceded in death by her sister, Karen Chisholm.
A Memorial Service will be held at Buncombe Street United Methodist Church on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at 2:00 PM. It was Mitzi’s wish for this to be a casual attire service. Visitation will follow the service.
The family would like to thank each of their friends and loved ones for reaching out during this difficult time. The outpouring of love and prayers has been overwhelming. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Buncombe Street United Methodist Church, PO Box 1988, Greenville, SC 29602.
Mitzi was so special in so many ways. She has been a huge inspiration to me in the world of rescue and animal advocacy. Mitzi will always hold a special place in my heart. When we last spoke I told her I expected her guidance and advice from Heaven. I know she will help me continue to help dogs in need.
Sending tons of love to Mike and Kami for a healing heart.
Mitzi was a precious soul. I loved her the first time I met her. Through Emmaus, we grew very close. She was so much fun. I know our God was there to welcome her home. She is not in any pain and believe me she is in charge of all the Heavenly dogs . RIP my dear friend. I’ll see you one day.
I loved Mitzi . She was a rescue partner of mine and we got things done. I will truly miss this hero.
Mitzi was beautiful inside and out and made a tremendous difference on this earth. Her generosity to help animals in need will make her live on forever in our hearts. We lost a truly great person and so grateful to have met her.

Natalie and I were so sorry to hear of her passing. Although I only met her a few times, it seems that I knew her based on all the wonderful things that Natalie had to say.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time.
Gordon & Natalie.

The Balentine family is so sadden to hear of Mitz’s passing and our thoughts and prayers are with your family at this sad time
I’d like to express my heartfelt condolences to you and your family on the loss of your wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. When you see a person that has not been able to live their life out to the full such as Mitzi, one may wonder why does man have to die at all. But God gives us his personal promise found in the Bible at Revelation 21:4, where God tells us that very soon he will do away with death and sickness from the Earth forever, and then he will resurrect Mitzi to perfect life here on a fully cleansed Earth, being reunited with family and friends and being able to experience life as God meant it to be, which has always been God’s purpose for mankind and for his Earth.
Mike, I am so sorry to learn of the passing of your beloved wife. My prayers continue to be with you and your family. May our Lord and Savior keep all of you in the palm of His Hand during this most difficult time. She is totally free of all the pain and struggles with her physical body and is totally free now. God Bless each and everyone of you now and always.
So sorry!
