Betty Lucretia Todd Richardson
Betty Richardson, 90, of Simpsonville, widow of Dr. L.R. Richardson, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, March 1, 2019.
Born in Simpsonville, she was a daughter of the late John W. & Ruby Armstrong Todd. Mrs. Richardson was a long-time member of First Baptist Church Simpsonville. She was a 1949 graduate of Furman University and a beloved teacher of elementary school children for over 30 years. She greatly enjoyed music, reading, bridge and traveling.
She is survived by her daughter, Margie Richardson of Columbia; her son Stephen T. Richardson (Lynn) of Greenville; and a sister, Nancy Todd Cook of Surfside; two grandchildren, Megan Kakaras and Todd Richardson; and three great-grandchildren.
A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at 2:00 PM in the Simpsonville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Steve & family, our hearts were saddened, when Carolyn called to say, your Mother had passed. Prayers for each of you as you go through this sad time. Kirby & Thelma Ballew
I am so sorry for your loss. Betty was a wonderful lady. I enjoyed teaching with her for many years. She always had a quick wit and told the funniest stories. Sending prayers to her family.
Mrs. Richardson taught my son when he was in the fourth grade. She was an outstanding, compassionate teacher who knew her students and their needs. She was a “true teacher”. May God comfort the family.
Margie, my thoughts and prayers are with you in the loss of your mother. May the sweet memories of her comfort you in the days ahead.
I would like to express my heartfelt condolences to you and your family on the loss of your mother. When you see somebody who has been able to live such a long and full life as Betty has, one may wonder why does man have to die at all. But God gives us his personal promise found in the Bible at Revelation 21:4, where he tells us that very soon he will do away with death and sickness from the Earth forever, and then he will resurrect Betty to perfect life here on a fully cleansed Earth, being reunited with family and friends and being able to experience life as God meant it to be, which has always been God’s purpose for mankind and for his Earth.
Margie and Steve, I am so sorry to hear about your sweet mother’s passing. I have such fond memories of her in 4th grade. She was a wonderful teacher and my parents thought so much of her. My thoughts and prayers are with you both during this difficult time.
