Gerald “John” Wells

Gerald ”John” Eugene Wells, 81, of Taylors, husband of Gerry Wells, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2019. Born in Fraley, MO, he was the son of the late Everett Wells and the late Olive Marie Fielder Wells.

John retired from the Army, was a Vietnam veteran, and served as Commander for the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1845 of Simpsonville. During his service to our country, he received two purple hearts.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by two sons, Gerald Wells and Jeffrey Wells; four daughters, Eugenia Wells, Phyllis Ritter of Fountain Inn, Joanne Bourgieos of Louisiana, and Sherry Lyons of Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren with an eleventh on the way; and three sisters, Shirley Duberry of Rockton, IL, Sharon Moore of Malden, MO, and Marie Adams of Rockford, IL.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Daugherty; a brother, Bill Wells; and a sister, Becky Simmons.

A visitation will be held on Friday, March 1, 2019 at Cannon Funeral Home from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the chapel at Cannon Funeral Home on Saturday, March 2, 2019 beginning at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow in Cannon Memorial Park with full military honors.
