James P. Davenport, Jr

James P. Davenport, Jr., 85, of Fork Shoals, widower of Ruth Davenport, went to be with his Lord and Savior while at home surrounded by his family.

Born in Fork Shoals, he was a son of the late JP Davenport Sr. and the late Mary Davis Davenport. He was a member of Fork Shoals Baptist Church.

Mr. Davenport is survived by two daughters, Sharon Vaughn and her husband, John, of Fountain Inn, and Gail King and her husband, Gary Sr., also of Fountain Inn; four grandchildren, Travis Owens, Jennifer Owens, Gary L. King Jr., and Gayla Kellner; five great-grandchildren, Kaylee Cannon, Daventon Craigo, Katie Kellner, Tyler Owens, and Ally Owens; one brother, Douglas G. Davenport, of Greenville; and one sister, Shirley J. Bradley and her husband, Ray, of Ware Place.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 12:00 PM in the Cannon Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jay Howard officiating.

The family will receive friends starting at 11:00 AM prior to the service.

Interment will be in Cannon Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in honor of Mr. Davenport to: The Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
The family will be at the home of Sharon & John Vaughn.
