Margaret Ann Wood Hughes

Margaret Ann Wood Hughes, 78, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at 11:40 PM at McCall Hospice House, Simpsonville, SC. She was the beloved wife of 57 years of Johnny O. Hughes and the daughter of the late Fred Ambrose and Augie Elizabeth Wood, Sr.

She was retired after a 40 year career in Banking, an active member of Fountain Inn First Baptist Church since 1956 and member of the Ruth Sunday School Class. She was an accomplished pianist and accordion player where she performed at various singing conventions. She was a sweet and kind lady who was beautiful inside and out. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter Kathy H. Piccione and husband Dr. John R. Piccione; three grandchildren Andrew Corbin Piccione, Jaimie Elizabeth Piccione, and Annemarie Rose Piccione and a sister Frances Louise Wood.

She was preceded in death by her brother Fred A. Wood, Jr.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Fountain Inn First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2:00 until 3:00 PM at the church. Entombment will follow at Cannon Memorial Park.

The family is at the home of Dr. John and Kathy Piccione. Friends and family are welcome to drop by on Friday, January 24th from 4:00 until 6:00 PM.

The family offers a special thank you to caregivers Rosalia Cox, Francelle Bailey, Angela Phillips, LaFrance Ladson, and Portia Tumblin, also Mayor Gary and Suzanne Long, Yvonne Smith and all the members of the Ruth Sunday School Class and close family and neighbors.
