Evelyn Nabors Garrett

Evelyn Nabors Garrett, 91, wife of the late Roy L. Garrett, passed away Tuesday September 1, 2009 at Hillcrest Memorial Hospital. Born in Greenville County on January 20, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Thomas P. and Mattie Bell Nabors. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be misses by all who knew her.

A graduate of Fountain Inn High School, she was a 35 year employee of Greenville County Schools. She was a devout Christian and a charter member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children, Linda Mabry and her husband Edward, Mary Ann Russell and her husband Keith and Carolyn Traynham and her husband Bill all of Simpsonville, grandchildren Chris Mabry and his wife Diana, Scott Mabry and his wife Kim, Jennifer White and her husband Bryan, Kyle Russell, Holly Traynham Hill and her husband Brian, Robert Russell, Blake Traynham and Micah Welch, great grandchildren Grant, Kayla, Harrison and Lexi Mabry, Luke White and Jackson Hill, one sister: Mary Josephine Shaver.
Along with her parents and husband she was predeceased by one brother Thomas P. Nabors.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to her caregivers, Pearl Douglas, Sam Lister and Dr. Connie Blackstone.

A graveside service will be held at Cannon Memorial Park on Thursday September 3, 2009 at 4:00 PM. A visitation will be held on Thursday September 3, 2009 from 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm at Cannon Funeral Home Fountain Inn.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations are made to Shiners Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Road Greenville SC. 29605 in Evelyn’s name.
