James “Jim” A. Sweatt

James “Jim” Andrew Sweatt, 88, of Gray Court, SC, loving husband of Tallulah Sweatt, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2026. Born in Ware Shoals, SC, he was the son of the late William A. Sweatt and the late Louie and Frances McGaha.

In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by two children, Billy Sweatt (Laura) and Michael Sweatt; four grandchildren, Meghan Sweatt, Brennan Sweatt, Drew Sweatt (Samantha), and Chris Sweatt; a great grandson, Colton Sweatt; a sister, Betty Holleman (Troy); and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by first wife and mother of his children, Glenda Sweatt; and three siblings, John McGaha, Dean McGaha and Jean McGaha.

In his earlier years, Jim enjoyed riding motorcycles, playing golf and spending vacations at the Beach.

He was a veteran of the US Navy where he proudly served his Country. He often talked fondly of his time and adventures in the Navy where he was able to see much of the world. After the Navy, he attended and graduated from Erskine College with honors.

Jim was a member of First Baptist Church Fountain Inn where he attended regularly.

He loved nothing more than spending time with his family. He loved us all very much and he will be greatly missed.

A Memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Cannon-Byrd Funeral Home; 1150 N. Main St, Fountain Inn, SC 29644. The family will receive friends following the service.

Interment will be private for the family.
