Wessie “Gene” Eugene Long, 88, of Greer, SC, husband of Patricia S. Long, passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. Born in Senatobia, MS, he was a son of the late Wessie and Mary Boyles Long.
Gene served in the United States Air Force for eight years. He was a faithful Christian and was a member of Cornerstone Church in Clinton, MS.
In addition to his wife, Gene is survived by four children, Victoria Marincin (Rick), Cynthia Wilson (Edward), Cherie McLaurin, and Keith Long; nine grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Huston.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six siblings.
A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Cannon-Byrd Funeral Home; 1150 N. Main St, Fountain Inn, SC 29644. Interment will follow in Cannon-Byrd Memorial Park with Military Honors.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home starting at 2:00 p.m.
