Dennis Lee Smith

Dennis L. Smith, 70, of Fountain Inn, husband of Exuperancia Mercado Smith for 47 years, died on Friday, April 28, 2017 while surrounded by his family.

Born in Racine, WI, he was a son of the late Dennis A. Smith and the late Joyce Bratz Smith. Mr. Smith retired as a decorated veteran from the United States Air Force after having served three tours in Vietnam.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Richard Lee Smith of Fountain Inn; three daughters, Jennifer Hensley and her husband, Gregg, of Simpsonville, Vivian Price and her husband, Jason, of Fountain Inn, and Denise Lewallen and her husband, Thomas, of GA; seven grandchildren, Sam Raines, Matt Raines, Chance Hensley, Caleb Price, Jack Price, Reagan Lewallen and Abby Lewallen; four brothers, David, Donnie, Dickie and Duane Smith; and five sisters, Judy Minor, Susie Rockhill, Darlene McGrath, Janice Larson and Linda Gonzalez.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Margie Emmerling and Sandy Davis.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, May 8, 2017 at 12:10 PM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.

Inurnment will be in M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 11:00 AM.
