Planning Ahead

Planning ahead removes a burden from your family at a time of loss.

Why Plan Ahead

A Thoughtful Gift to the People You Love

Most families agree that planning ahead is a wise and loving decision. Putting your wishes in writing protects the people you love — sparing them dozens of difficult decisions in the midst of grief. Yet many people understandably put it off.

The Benefits

Benefits of Preplanning

Make Your Wishes Known

Preplanning lets you record exactly how you would like to be remembered — the type of service, the music, and the personal touches that reflect your life. You give your family a clear roadmap and the comfort of certainty.

Provides Peace of Mind

Knowing your arrangements are settled brings peace of mind to you and to those you love. When the time comes, your family can focus on one another instead of paperwork and decisions.

Flexible Funding Options

Choose to fund your plan in advance or spread the cost over time with a payment plan. Handling the expense now eases the financial burden that might otherwise fall to your family.

Relieves the Burden on Family

By taking the time to plan ahead, you ensure your wishes are honored and spare your loved ones from making hard decisions during an emotionally difficult time.

Common Questions About Preplanning

What steps are involved in prearranging a funeral?

It takes just three simple steps. First, reach out and let our team guide you. Next, choose your funeral preferences and any special requests. Finally, finalize your arrangements — with payment plans available if you wish to pre-fund. Book an appointment and we’ll help you begin.

What information do I need to prearrange?

Just basic details about yourself or the person you are planning for — date of birth, marital status, and parents’ names — along with your preferences for burial or cremation, type of service, and cemetery. Our caring staff will help you with the rest.

Do I have to pay in advance?

No. Preplanning is simply making your wishes known. Many families do choose to pre-fund their arrangements, which relieves the financial burden on loved ones and offers added peace of mind.

Can I transfer plans to or from another funeral home?

Yes. If you have arrangements at another funeral home and would like to move them to Cannon-Byrd, we are glad to help. If you move away and wish to transfer your plans elsewhere, we will assist with that as well.
