Barbara R. Scerbo
Barbara Rita Scerbo, 74, of Simpsonville, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 6, 2026. Born in Bronx, New York, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Bella (Cohen) Zerlanko.
Barbara is survived by her three beloved children: Rick Scerbo (Sherry), Michelle Lopez, and Trina Butler (Adam); four cherished grandchildren, Alex, Antonio, Naomi, and Owen; her sister-in-law, Arlene Zerlanko; and her nephew, Brad Zerlanko. She is also survived by several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her brother, George Zerlanko.
Affectionately known as “Barb” or “Barbie,” Barbara was the epitome of loyalty, dedication, and generosity. She gave freely of herself – her time, her attention, and her thoughtfulness, often expressed through a crocheted scarf or blanket, a favorite home-cooked meal, or a perfectly chosen gift. She was always there for her family and friends: to listen, to share quality time, to lend a helping hand, or simply to offer comfort.
Barbara was deeply loving and affectionate, never hesitating to give a big hug or tell those she cared for just how much she loved them. She enjoyed playing Gin Rummy and Wheel of Fortune, attending concerts, listening to music, reading, and relaxing with her favorite TV shows and movies. She was a loyal and dedicated friend to many, who adored her Bronx accent, funny phrases, and detailed stories. Above all else, she found great joy in being involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren.
Barbara’s bright eyes, warm smile, and heartfelt hugs will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Celebration of Life for Barbara will be held on June 6, 2026 from 2 pm – 5 pm at her daughter’s home, where she also resided: 279 Oak Branch Drive, Simpsonville, SC 29681.
