Louise Young Garrett
Mrs. Louise Young Garrett, 91, widow of Blake P. Garrett Sr., went to be with the Lord on Palm Sunday April 5, 2009 .
Born on January 28,,1918, in Suchou, China, she was the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. .Mason P. Young, medical missionaries to China. She lived in China until she graduated from Shanghai American School, at which time she returned to the United States. She graduated from Agnes Scott College in 1938 and came to Fountain Inn as a teacher . In Fountain Inn she met and married Blake P. Garrett Sr., her husband for sixty five years until his death in 2005. She was a member of Fountain Inn Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her five sons , They are Blake P. Jr. and his wife Melanie of Fountain Inn, Mason Y. Sr. and his wife, Mary Beth of Anderson, Peter T. and his wife Sandra of Simpsonville, J.Berry and his wife Julie, of Fountain Inn, and Charles H. Garrett of Fountain Inn.
Additionally she is survived by fifteen grand children, Jennifer Garrett Chesney and her husband Levi, Blake P. Garrett 111 and his wife Kathy, Amanda G. Hollingsworth and husband, Diomede, Laura G. Barrineau and her husband Chris, Cellia G. Tuttle and husband Trip, Mason Y. Garrett Jr. and his wife Natalie, Harold E. Garrett and his wife Tara Ann, J.B. Garrett and his wife Amy, William H.S. Garrett , Elizabeth K Whatley and her husband Shane , Spencer T. Garrett, Stefanie J. Garrett, J. Manning Garret and his wife Courtney, Margaret K. Garrett and W. Sloan Garrett; and twenty four great grandchildren , She was preceded in death by a grandson Charles Pressley Garrett, and great grandson, Todd Mc Clintock Garrett. She is also survived by devoted sister, Dr. Josephine Sullivan, and brother-In- Law, Dr. Francis Sullivan, sisters-in-law, Margaret Ruth Garrett and Martha J. Garrett. Her life was a serene Christian witness to her family and those with whom she came in contact
A funeral service for Mrs. Garrett will be held at Fountain Inn Presbyterian Church on Tuesday April 7,2009 at 4 PM, with visitation to follow in the Christian Fellowship Building after the service. A private graveside service will be held at 3:15 PM the same day.
