Alice L. Riggs Cheek

Alice L. Cheek, 84, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and sister, died on Mother’s Day, May 14, 2017.

Alice was born on February 1, 1933 to the late Jess and Dolores Riggs, formerly of South Bend, IN. She graduated in 1951 from James Whitcomb Riley High School.

Alice was an avid animal lover who was known for her generous nature, amazing sense of humor and her holiday cookies. Her interest included collecting antiques, playing card games with friends and family, and being an active member of the Simpsonville Senior Center.

She is survived by her sister Nancy Riggs Gorski of Duncan, SC; children, Craig Cheek of Simpsonville, SC, and Nanci Anne (Tabitha) Cheek Schultz of Lehigh Acres, FL; three grandchildren, Christopher Alan Cheek of South Bend, IN, Curtis Allen Cheek, of South Bend, IN, and Brian Dale (Kristy) Cheek of Temple, TX; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Robert Dale Cheek; a sister, Shirley Ann Cruickshank; and a granddaughter, Chelsie Ann Cheek.
